Top 3 Places for Cheese and Wine in Central Vietnam (2024/2025): Best Spots in Da Nang and Hoi An.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Vietnamese food. It’s vibrant, fresh, and addictive. But let’s be real, sometimes you crave the comforting familiarity of crusty bread, soft cheese, and a glass of perfectly chilled wine. I feel you! That’s why I’ve put together this list of my top three spots to enjoy cheese and wine in Central Vietnam, focusing on Da Nang and Hoi An.

If you’re wondering, “Is good cheese and wine even a thing here?” The answer is a resounding yes. While Vietnam isn’t known for its camembert or Chianti (and Dalat wine, bless its heart, isn’t quite a substitute), there are some incredible places where imported quality products shine.

My Selection Criteria

I didn’t just pick these places at random. Each spot made the list based on three crucial factors:

  1. The quality and range of cheeses—because a cheese board is only as good as its lineup.

  2. Cold cuts selection—we’re talking legit cured meats that pair perfectly with cheese and wine.

  3. Affordability—cheese and wine aren’t budget items in Vietnam, but these spots still offer value for money with two glasses of wine included.

Vietnam doesn’t have centuries of cheese and charcuterie tradition. Everything is imported, which means you’re paying European prices (sometimes higher). So, when I see a cheese platter priced under $10 here, I’m skeptical—it’s often low-quality, and you deserve better.

Without further ado, here are my top picks for cheese and wine in Central Vietnam. And hey, if I missed your favorite spot, let me know—I’m always up for discovering more!

  1. Si Dining - Italian/Vietnamese Fusion - Da Nang

Perched along the serene Han River in Da Nang, Si Dining is a perfect blend of chic, modern design and semi-open-air ambiance. This makes it an ideal spot for a cozy evening, especially if you’re in the mood to indulge in a generous cheese and cold cuts platter. Their Italian-inspired selection pairs wonderfully with an extensive wine menu that’s tailored for aficionados and casual drinkers alike.

  • Location: 01 Giang Châu 2, Khuê Mỹ, Ngũ Hành Sơn, Đà Nẵng, Việt Nam

  • Price: Cheese and Cold cuts platter with x2 gls house wine = 880k (not including service charge/tip)

  • Highlights: The waitress informed us about the type and origin of each cheese, service was excellent. The platter was much bigger than expected.

  • Vibe: High-end, Date Night

2. Le Comptoir - Da Nang

If you're craving the authentic taste of France in Da Nang, Le Comptoir is your go-to spot. Known as the city's staple French delicatessen and restaurant, it’s a paradise for cheese lovers and gourmands alike.

Le Comptoir offers more than just a meal—it’s an experience. From their well-curated deli counter, you can hand-pick your favorite cheeses and cold cuts, which are perfectly paired with wine selections guided by their in-house sommelier. Their monthly events, including wine tastings, cheese brunches, and decadent raclette nights, are not to be missed if you’re a fan of French cuisine.

Even during the challenges of the 2021 lockdown, Le Comptoir’s commitment to quality shone through with their beautifully arranged takeaway cheese and cold cuts boxes, offering a taste of luxury at home.

3. Hill Station - Hoi An

Located within a beautifully preserved UNESCO-listed shop house in the heart of Hoi An's old town, this European-style deli, restaurant, and wine bar offers a blend of charm and indulgence. The warm, vibrant interior, complemented by its historic architecture, creates a cozy atmosphere for enjoying their signature charcuterie boards.

Like Le Comptoir, guests are invited to curate their own selections of cheese and cold cuts directly from the deli counter, ensuring a personalized dining experience. For a more interactive treat, indulge in their tableside raclette, served with an array of sides and perfectly paired with a bottle of Riesling for a truly decadent evening.

Charcuterie Board at Home?

If you want to make your own charcuterie board at your place of stay in either Hoi An or Da Nang there are a few places where you can source the ingrediants yourself.

Bread - Freshly Baked and European Standard

Lets be honest, when it comes to good bread, Asia does not come to mind. Nonetheless there are a few bakeries that truly specialise in baking European style bread to a European standard.

Wine - With a Shop face and Delivery option

There are quite a few bottle shops around where they have a great selection of wines, spirits and beers. All places have locations in Da Nang and Hoi An

  • Winecellar (My Favourite)

  • Warehouse

  • Red Apron

Cheese and Meats

More westernized supermarkets stock European branded cheeses and cold cuts.

I hope this guide helps you satisfy your cravings for wine and cheese as you journey through Central Vietnam. Sometimes, a little taste of home can be the perfect treat while traveling.
